Ivory Coast
Côte d’Ivoire, also known as the Ivory Coast, is a country located in West Africa, bordered by Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Ghana. The official language is French, and the currency is the West African CFA franc. Côte d’Ivoire has a presidential representative democratic republic form of government, and the current President is Alassane Ouattara.
Côte d’Ivoire has a developing economy based on agriculture and mining, particularly cocoa, coffee and gold. The country is known for its diverse culture, with many ethnic groups and traditional music and dances. Côte d’Ivoire also has a rich history, and is known for its landmarks such as the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace and the Taï National Park. The capital and largest city is Yamoussoukro, known for its modern architecture and cultural sites such as the Presidential Palace and the St. Paul’s Cathedral.
