Cape Verde

Cape Verde is an island country located in the central Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of West Africa. It is made up of ten volcanic islands. The official language is Portuguese, and the currency is the Cape Verdean escudo. Cape Verde has a semi-presidential representative democratic republic form of government, and the current President is Jorge Carlos Fonseca.

Cape Verde has a developing economy based on tourism, agriculture, and fishing. The country is known for its beautiful beaches, warm climate, and diverse culture, which is influenced by its history as a Portuguese colony and its mix of African and European heritage. The traditional music of Cape Verde, known as “morna”, is also very popular. The country also has a rich marine life and several protected areas such as the Raso and Branco islets Natural Reserve, and the Sal Rei Mangrove Natural Reserve. The capital and largest city is Praia, located on the island of Santiago, known for its historical and cultural sites such as the Praia Cathedral.
