Belize

Belize is a country located in Central America, bordered by Mexico to the north and Guatemala to the west and south. It also has a coastline on the Caribbean Sea. The capital and largest city is Belmopan. The official language is English and the currency is the Belize dollar. The government is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy. The current Prime Minister is John Briceno.

Belize has a rich history, with the area being originally settled by the Maya civilization prior to the arrival of Europeans in the 16th century. The country was later colonized by the British and was known as British Honduras until gaining independence in 1981.

Belize is known for its natural beauty, including its beaches, coral reefs, and rainforests, which are home to a wide variety of plant and animal species. English is the official language, but many people also speak Spanish, Creole and Mayan languages. The country has a diverse religious structure with a large number of Christians, as well as followers of other religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Rastafarianism.

Belize is also home to the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, the Belize Barrier Reef, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a major tourist attraction. The country is also home to a number of ancient Maya ruins, such as Caracol, Xunantunich, and Lamanai, which attract many visitors interested in the history and culture of the region.
