Azerbaijan is a country located in the Caucasus region of Eurasia, bordered by Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia to the west, and Iran to the south. The capital and largest city is Baku.

As of 2021, the population of Azerbaijan is approximately 10.1 million people, with a population density of 116 people per square kilometer. The population is made up of a diverse mix of ethnic groups, with the majority being Azerbaijanis (91.6%), followed by Lezgins (2.2%), and Russians (1.3%). The official language is Azerbaijani, but Russian and Turkish are also widely spoken.

The climate in Azerbaijan is diverse, ranging from subtropical to humid continental, depending on the region. The country can be divided into two main climatic zones: the Greater Caucasus Mountains and the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. The Greater Caucasus Mountains have a humid subtropical climate and the Lesser Caucasus Mountains have a humid continental climate. The country experiences hot summers and cold winters. The average temperature in January is between -3 °C to -5 °C and in July the average temperature is around 25 °C. The country receives relatively low precipitation throughout the year, with the exception of the Lankaran region in the south which receives high precipitation.

Azerbaijan is known for its rich culture, history, and stunning natural beauty, including the Absheron Peninsula, the Caucasus Mountains and the Caspian Sea. Visitors can explore the historic Old City of Baku, visit the Gobustan National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to thousands of rock carvings and mud volcanoes and also visit the city of Sheki which is known for its traditional architecture, silk and carpet weaving. Day 1: Arrive in Baku and check into your hotel. Take a stroll around the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and admire the architecture of the medieval buildings. Visit the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower, two of Baku’s most iconic landmarks.

Day 2: Take a full-day tour to Gobustan National Park, located about 60km southwest of Baku. The park is home to thousands of rock carvings and petroglyphs, as well as mud volcanoes and the Caspian Sea.

Day 3: Take a day trip to the city of Sheki, located in the northwest of Azerbaijan. Sheki is known for its traditional architecture, such as the Khan’s Palace, and for its local handicrafts, such as silk and carpet weaving.

Day 4: Take a trip to the Absheron Peninsula, located east of Baku. Visit the Ateshgah Fire Temple, an ancient Zoroastrian temple, and the Yanar Dag, a natural gas fire that has been burning for centuries.

Day 5: Take a trip to the city of Lankaran, located in the south of Azerbaijan. Visit the Hirkan National Park, home to the Caucasian leopard and the Caucasian lynx, as well as the Lankaran Hot Springs, where you can relax in the warm waters.

Day 6: Return to Baku and visit the Heydar Aliyev Center, a modern architectural masterpiece designed by Zaha Hadid. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Azerbaijani meal and watch a performance of the Mugham, Azerbaijan’s traditional music.

Day 7: Depart Baku and return home.

Azerbaijan has a continental climate with the temperature varying from -5°C to 40°C. The country has four seasons: winter, spring, summer and fall. Spring and fall are the best seasons to visit Azerbaijan as it has the most comfortable weather.
